Getting to San Diego by Plane

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT AIR TRAVEL: Travel ID Changes

Travelers are reminded that since May 7, 2025, U.S. residents have been required to present a REAL ID-compliant license/ID or another acceptable form of identification in order to board a commercial aircraft. For details, visit the federal government's REAL ID page.

Airport Transportation

The convenience of the San Diego International Airport (SAN) extends to transportation to and from the airport.

Taxis and shuttle services from the airport are available at the Transportation Plazas across from the San Diego Airport Terminals 1 and 2.

Additionally, several companies offer services at SAN. Travelers can be dropped off curbside at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The following companies are currently permitted to operate at both airport terminals: Lyft, Uber, Opoli, and Wingz. Designated rideshare passenger pickup locations, along with other rideshare details, are available at www.san.org/to-from/ride-share.

Getting to San Diego by Train

The Santa Fe Train Depot, located in downtown San Diego, is the main hub for Amtrak and the Coaster commuter rail, with train service to/from downtown San Diego via LA and beyond.
